More than 48,000 people in the greater Chattanooga area have some degree of hearing loss. Locally, the money raised through Walk4Hearing helps to provide programs, services or equipment to people with hearing loss, including college scholarships, camp fee assistance for children and adults with hearing loss, captioning of live theatre, meetings and events, registration fee assistance to national HLAA conventions, equipment to veterans with hearing loss, and looping initiatives.
The 8th Annual Walk4Hearing will be held on Saturday, May 14. The event is free, open to the public, and held rain or shine, at Chattanooga State Community College and adjoining Riverwalk. The top walker who raises the most money online by 6 p.m. on May 13 has a chance to win a free pair of Beltone Promise digital hearing aids valued at $5,990. Jennifer Carson, marketing director of Beltone South will announce the winner at the Walk4Hearing. Additional prizes include two $50 gift certificates donated by CBL & Associates, and five pairs of general admission tickets to the Chattanooga Lookouts.
